Life so far

Well its been a while since I last posted on this blog. Things have been going pretty good, Watching ricky and Zack grow up is always fun. Getting up every morning at 6:00 or earlier not so much though. Our family was sick over Christmas holidays. I apparently had a touch of pneumonia. That was not fun at all. Stacy and the kids went down to her parents and I was here to work for 4 days and cough my lungs out. It was nice to be able to sleep in though I must say :-). Lately Stacy and I have been catching up on our favorite TV shows and playing our favorite game World of Warcraft. I will touch on some of those in individual posts. Over my bout with pneumonia though I was able to play and beat my new Star Wars Force unleashed II game. It is very fun and the downloadable content for the endor level was well worth the 1$ on PS3 network. Well today is the sliding party and the kids are getting excited for it. We sculpted the sliding hills and they are pretty good. There are nice bankings so they curve away from the house. That is all for now I will write more later... Maybe...

Designing a PS3 Display Case

Ok so where I work has a games room.

I have been unofficially the Games room guy for getting new gaming consoles in there.
A few years back we installed some X-box systems in there and I have been keeping them up to date.

This year I pitched getting 2 PS3's. The idea is to get downloadable content on it and have them in there ready to play.

Problem: How do we secure the PS3 and wireless controllers.

Solution i found a site that had custom made a display case for the original PS3.

Problem: it would be way to big for the PS3 Slim which is what we bought.

Solution - Measure the PS3 and get them to custom build it.

I spent about 3 hours over the last couple of days doing this and now have all the specs on it.
I first tried to search the internet for PS3 measurements but couldn't find anything.
So I am posting it here in the hopes that someone else may have an easier time with it.

Dec 25 - Christmas with the Family

I had a good Christmas with My family.
My kids made out like bandits.
They got classic ninja turtles movies and toys as well as rescue heroes toys.

Ricky (oldest 4) was so excited to get his Toy Chainsaw. He was cutting up all the wrapping paper and box's for the rest of the day.

Zackery (3) got an automated toy dinosaur from Joe Joe (friend of the Family) He played with that for a long time and then he got Sheriff from the movie cars. he is playing with that still to this day.

I made out good also. Of course I am just a big kid anyway. Stacy (my Wife) got me Borderlands for the PS3. Very fun and adictive game Josh (Stacy's Brother & I had lots of fun playing that over the 3 days he was there. I also got some toys. Leader class Optimus Prime & Leader Class Jet Fire from the Transformers 2 movies. I also got an mp3 player as my Ipod has been broken for a while (overloads any usb port I plug it into).

Stacy's favorite gift was a purple purse that my mother had picked up for her. It was by far the biggest suprise for her. She also got some nice jewelery and other items.

After the gift openings on the 25th we all went outside for a sliding party on our hill.
We even crafted a banking so we wouldn't run into the house. It was a good time had by all.

We all came in to have a wonderful meal cooked by Stacy, She is a great cook. Everyone had their fill and almost didn't have enough room for the several pies she baked.

We then went downstairs and had some fun playing Band hero. Debbie was wailing away on the drums, Jenn was singing and Josh and I were on guitar. Good times.

In attendance for christmas was:
Cindy, Jeff, Tyler, Nichole Jenkins - my Sister, Brother in law, Nephew, Neice
Debbie, Bruce, Josh, Jenn - My in-laws (mother, father, brother, sister)
Alice, Dale, Keith - My Mother, Father, Grandfather
Rick, Stacy, Ricky, Zackery - Me, My wife, my 4 year old, my 3 year old

Dec 11 - Friday Guys Game Night

Life has been busy since my last post.
Playing allot of PS3 now.

Little Big Planet is a very fun game to play with friends.
I had 4 friends over last week and we all played it through the metal gear solid levels.
Using the Paintinator Fred "Ballgame" kept trying to kill us all by pushing us off the edge.
James "MarriedNomad" and Dana "Baracksis" were playing also. We just had a good time goofing off in the game.

Other games played:
TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled - Reviews were not that strong on it but I decided to Download it anyway. Very Fun Game.
Zombie Apocalypse - Very fun 4 player game. there is not allot to it but it is a good pick up and play game.

Ended the night with NHL 09 - played 1 game in that then switched back to NHL 08 (Thats where our custom team was)
I personally always use the classic controls on that game. I just cant get used to the flicking of the right analog stick to shoot.

All in all it was a good night.
Fred even popped the plug on my water poorer so that was interesting.
Here we are trying to fix the plug with water spitting out and going into a popcorn bucket.

Good times.

Video Gaming

I am a big Video Gamer.

Systems Owned:

Playstaion, Playstation 2, Playstation 3

Nindendo 64, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS

Xbox, Xbox 360

Personal Computer - Pentium 4 3.2G 2gram radion X1300 Video card. (Self Built about 4 - 5 years ago)

Games most played / Owned:

PC - World of Warcraft - This is a very big time waster. I have been playing this game since the very first Open Beta about 4 years ago. (Gorefiend Server Horde Side) 10/10

Playstation 3:

Resident Evil 5 - This game is awesome, I play it allot with my co-worker and Friend allot as well as online with anyone who will join. It is Zombie Blowing up Carnage at its best. Once you get unlimited ammo on the first Shot Gun your good to go. 10/10

Resistance Fall of Man - This game is another fun first person shooter game. It has a good story line and is very fun. I find myself wanting to play RE5 more however.

EA NHL 08 - Picked this game up so my firiends and I could have some good o'l Hockey action. Kind of tough getting 3 guys to co-ordinate but its fun for multiplayer and has a good create mode in it.

MK vs DC universe - This is a good fight game though it doesn't have allot of replay value other than when you want to fight as one of your favorite DC characters or MK characters. Soul Calibur is a much better fight game for fun facter In My Opinion (IMO)

Soul Calibur - This is a fun game. The buddy with the nunchucks kicks butt. Also has allot of Downloadable content on the PSN network. Found myself downloading yoda to play on it. very fun.

Virtua Fighter 5 - This is a good all around fight game. It is very straight forward and requires the player to learn sophisticated moves to do anything other than just punch or kick. (MK vs DC has the easiest moves to learn out of the 3 fight games)

Devil May Cry 4 - Very dark game, Your basically a Demon / Human hybrid with a demon arm. I only played the first level. the controls are fluid and easy to learn. It also has a bionic commando feel to it once you get that ability for your arm. Very well done game even if the content is a bit dark for my tastes.

Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty - I downloaded this from Playstation Network for $9 us. Its about 4 hours worth of play. very fun game and worth the download.

Ratchet and Clank Future tools of destruction - This is actually a prequil to the quest for Booty. It is the same play style and is a very fun game. This series is done very well IMO.

Fracture - This was a Lucas Arts game I picked up for $14 at EB. It is a pretty cool concept. you have a world changing gun that can raise or lower certain areas of the map. I found myself getting stuch however on the first level which after trying to solve where to go for a good 30 minutes I shut it off and have not turned it on again yet. (RE5 and Warcraft are the main reasons for this though)

Nintendo Wii:
I have a lot of games for this system.
The Wii is a very fun interactive system. My wife uses it allot for Workouts with the Wii Balance Board.
I must admit that since I got my PS3 the Wii is more of an on the shelf system. Same with my 360.

Xbox 360:
I mostly use this now to play rockband. We have friends over and Jam out to rockband 1 and 2. Eye of the tiger is fun =P. Like the Wii the Xbox has been neglected for favor on my ps3.

The main reason I like the PS3 better than the others is the controllers. The xbox controllers are just to hard to keep charged and I found that they wear out quickly even with the power packs.
Same with the Wii. the ps3 controllers however fit nicely into the hand. and are very easy to keep charged. Even when it is fully dead i just have to charge it for 30 minutes and it is ready to play.

More on this later.

Summer Movies

Where to Begin.

I am a big Movie fan. I mostly like Super Hero movies and action.

So far this year I have been to 3 movies.
X-Men Origins - Wolverine
Star Trek
Terminator Salvation.

X-Men Origins - Wolverine:
I liked this movie allot. I was one of those people that got to see the un-finished version before it came out in theaters. I actually thought that it may ruin the movie when I went to see it but I actually had a better appreciation for it. I saw the raw version with the wires and the unfinished CGI sequences and was very impressed watching the full version. I likened it to seeing a Making of and having a better grasp for what the actors and CGI artists did in the film. I give this movie an 8/10

Star Trek:
I have always been a fan of the Star Trek franchsie, Noted however that I was not as big a fan of the original series as I was of Star Trek TNG. I thought that this Star Trek movie was a great way to reset the brand and open up the Star Trek universe to a brand new story line. The movie kept me involved the entire time and I found myself Laughing allot more than I thought I would. I give this movie a 9.5/10

Terminator Salvation:
I had heard bad reviews about this movie before I went to see it. I am a fan of the terminator series however and had been enjoying the Sarah Conner Chronicles on TV. I came into this movie with low expectations but knowing that I wanted to see where they took the story. I thought they did a good thing with the story. The characters were well thougth out though there were times that the interaction did not seem to be realistic even in a post nuclear world. I give this movie a 7.5/10 Worth watching and not a bad movie but not a blockbuster.

Upcoming Movies:
I am really looking forward to Transformers reveng of the fallen.
I have been a huge Transformers fan my entire life to the point that I collect the "Toys". The first Transformers is one of my altime favorite movies up there with Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I am also looking forward to the G.I.JOE movie and games that will come with it. What can I say I am still a kid at heart and the movie producers know what I like.
